Welcome Group for Queer People (LGBTIQ) Who Had to Leave Their Country
We warmly invite you to our Welcome Group for Queer Refugees (LGBTIQ+). We meet at a safe place to get to know each other and do free time activities. We cook together, play games or just drink coffee/tea and chat. We decide everything together and help each other with questions concerning living in Berlin, coming out, health, safer sex, finding a private place to live and much more. You can practice German and meet people who live in Berlin for an extended time. We hope you join us in our friendly and open group.
We will create a safe space especially for refugees who identify as Queer and help you feel at home here in Berlin. Queer stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexual (LGBTIQ). Queer was used as a negative expression, but today it stands for a positive self-understanding of people who don’t fit in with the mainstream concept of love and sexuality.
We speak English, German, Arabian and Italian, but we’d be happy about people who can speak other languages as well. We will meet every Sunday afternoon from 15.00 to 17.00 – please contact us for more information. We want to treat each other respectfully. Violence, racism, sexism, and illegal drugs are not tolerated by us.
